Dry sump lubrication method for internal combustion engine, particularly equipping motor vehicles using, on the one hand, a pressure pump (1) for supplying pressurised lubrication liquid (lubricant) such as oil, to the distribution galleries (ramps) of the engine, and particularly the main gallery (4) from a tank (2) of lubricant and, on the other hand, a bilge (lift) pump (6) intended to draw up the lubricant which has fallen into the lower sump or oil sump (5) and deliver it back into the said tank (2), characterised in that the pressure of the lubricant is adjusted so as to generate the minimum hydrodynamic friction of the engine, and in that the said pressure of the lubricant is generated within certain operating ranges of the engine via the joint action of the pressure (1) and delivery (6) pumps, the engine then being supplied with lubricant by the joint outputs of the two pumps. <IMAGE>
