The invention relates to an abrasive metering device for equipping machines for sawing stone. It consists of a tank (1), placed on 4 legs (2), provided at its base with a circular opening with a collar connected to an L-shaped pipe (9 and 10) by a flexible sleeve (11). A connecting rod (7) gives this tube a to-and-fro movement generated by a crankshaft (5) itself moved by a motor. The abrasive, which cannot flow, when stationary, simply under the action of gravity, escapes in short bursts during operation. The motor is set in motion at regular intervals, and over a period of time which can be set by a timer. By altering the duration of the intervals for which it is started up and the times for which the motor is operating, the hourly flow rate of abrasive can be varied as required. <IMAGE>
