A high sentitivity gamma camera (32) particularly useful in nuclear medecine comprises a collimator (34) with large openings and a detector (36, 38) to convert the gamma photons into electrical pulses. The electrical pulses corresponding to the different positions of the gamma camera set by means of the drive system (40) are processed by the circuits (42, 44) to recreate the radiation density gamma (x, y, z) from the object (30) observed.
