- The invention relates to a device intended to improve the extraction of the burnt gases from a four-stroke internal combustion engine including, in particular, a combustion chamber (1) equipped with at least one inlet valve (2), with at least two separate valves (31, 32) for exhausting the burnt gases, each exhaust valve being connected to an exhaust pipe (4, 5). - At least one of the exhaust pipes (4) (or first pipe) emerges in a second exhaust pipe (5) at a zone (7) situated inside the said second pipe, a partial vacuum being created at some instants in the engine cycle in the said junction zone (7) in order to promote extraction of the burnt gases out of the combustion chamber. - The invention also relates to the method intended to implement this device. <IMAGE>
