Stringed instrument with movable bridges having a single tension adjusting source. The invention relates to a device enabling all the notes of a stringed instrument to be tuned simultaneously by manipulating a single adjustment key. In practice, the single tuning key (1) regulates the tension which is transmitted in a constant manner from one section of a single string (5) to the other by means of ball-bearings (4) fixed on to an elongate sound box (6). Visual markers (3) enable the length of each string section to be regulated with the aid of movable bridges (2); these markers define the notes of the major scale or their accidentals according to the numerical ratios established by Pythagoras on his monochord. Similarly to the dulcimer or the spinet, this instrument is played with the aid of sticks, the fingers or a plectrum. Very simple in its approach and having a multitude of combinations of different modes, this instrument is intended for the professional and the amateur alike and especially for children and for music teachers. <IMAGE>
