<p>PURPOSE:To melt high manganese steel having a superior quality in efficient manner and at a low cost with a small amount of use of slag, producing agent. CONSTITUTION:When a counter-flow refining operation is carried out for desulfurization pig iron and slag with one of two convertors having both upper and lower blowing functions being applied as a dephosphorization furnace and the other being applied as a decarburization furnace 2, manganese ore is added as feeding material for the dephosphorization furnace 1 and the decarburization furnace 2 and at the same time slag 3 containing manganese generated from the decarburization furnace 2 is fed to and added to the dephosphorization furnace 1 and slag 3' containing manganese generated from the dephosphorization furnace 1 is fed to and added to an agitating desulfurization container 4, respectively, so as to perform a three-stage counterflow refining operation.</p> |
