PURPOSE:To enable accurate focus detection without any influence of aberrations of an optical system even at the peripheral part in a screen by correcting a focus state according to correction information based upon the positional relation between a specific area and a reference position. CONSTITUTION:The EEPROM of a microcomputer 6 is stored previously with the correction information for the result of focus detection at a reference position in the photographic screen. Once an object area of focus detection on the photographic screen is determined, a subject image signal read out of an area sensor 43 is selected and focus detection arithmetic is performed according to the selected image signal. Then the correction quantity for the position of the area is calculated from the correction information and the result of focus detection is corrected. |
