<p>PURPOSE:To make it unnecessary to store drive numbers or check the drive numbers by an operator himself (or herself) based upon the issue of a command by providing this drive number display system with a drive number display device for displaying respective drive numbers for plural aux. storage devices included in a computer system. CONSTITUTION:When a power supply for a computer body 1 is turned on, an OS 15 is loaded from a hard disk drive 7 to a main storage device 6 and executed by a central processor 5. A nucleus 16 executes a specific instruction included in a hard disk drive control device 24. The disk drive 7 is connected to the control part 24 and contents that three divided areas can be utilized as respective drives are informed to the nucleus 16. Then the nucleus 16 issues a specific instruction stored in a control part 29 and allocates drive numbers to respective areas of the drive 7 and floppy disk drives 9, 8, 12, 13. Then the nucleus 16 issues an instruction for displaying these drive numbers and the drive numbers are displayed on a display device 14.</p> |
