The present invention relates to a fluid control valve for use with a faucet. The valve has a movable valve element (30) and a stationary valve element (31) for regulating fluid flow through the valve in response to rotation of the movable element over the stationary element. A rotatable spindle (19) has a driving end which engages a groove structure in the movable valve element. The groove structure is capable of receiving the driving end in two positions more than 10 but less than 170 apart. The spindle has a projection (28) which engages a stop (58) on the interior of the valve body to limit rotation of the spindle.
