The oil lamp has a fitting to support the wick. The fitting consists of an outer housing (2) which may be made or rigid or flexible ceramic, glass, or heat resistant plastics. The upper end of the fitting receives the burner cap (1) which is made from a metal of good thermal conductivity, and is fastened to the housing (2) with a hermetically sealed joint. The housing (2) is in the form of a tube with a lining (3) of material with capillary passageways for the oil. This material may consist of paper, paper-like material, glass, or carbon fibres. USE/ADVANTAGE - Support for the wick of an oil lamp which prevents the escape of unburnt oil vapour.
