Sintered moulded body of laminar structure consists of a base, consisting of Si nitride contg. metal oxide sinter aid, where required several intermediate layers, and an outer ceramic wear layer, 0.1-1 mm, pref. 0.2-0-5 mm thick. The wear layer contains at least 60 vol. % Al nitride; 7-29, pref. 7-20 vol. % of hard material, consisting of Ti carbide, Ti nitride, Ti diboride, W carbide, Nb carbide, Nb boride, or a mixture of these substances; 1-15, pref. 2-8 vol. % metal oxide cpds.; and up to 25 vol. % Si carbide fibres.
