PURPOSE:To obtain a practical and small-sized optical pickup for reading an optical disk signal with simple construction. CONSTITUTION:The device consists of a light source 20, several photodetectors 31 and 32 arranged around the light source, and a light collecting means 10 arranged at least adjacent to the light source, and is capable of acquiring reflected or scattered light from the pit of an optical disk, reading of a signal, focussing and tracking operation with the simple construction without using the other optical parts such as a beam splitter and a focus detecting optical system. Accordingly, the optical system can be simplified, the utilization efficiency of the light can be improved and the size of the device can be reduced. Furthermore, by forming the light source can be further reduced and the assembling can be facilitated. |
