A cover esp. for the loading area of a motor vehicle, includes a tarpaulin, a fixing cord made of rubber, plastic or a similar material, as well as cord holding elements, located on the vehicle and/or tarpaulin. Luminophores are incorporated in the cord material, which give off light when they have been illuminated. The tarpaulin pref. has a plastic coating which contains the luminophores. ADVANTAGE - The tarpaulin cover components are visible in the dark.
