PURPOSE:To magnetic recording and reproduction with excellent and stable S/N when the high density recording and reproduction of a digital signal is performed. CONSTITUTION:An inputted digital signal is converted with a modulator 2 into the digital signal whose low frequency spectrum is suppressed and whose shortest recording wavelength will not reduced to half or less. The signal is recorded with a ring type magnetic head 5 on a magnetic tape 6 which is formed by laminating multiple layers of deposition films whose crystal growth directions are different from each other. After the waveform of the signal reproduced from the magnetic tape 6 is equalized with a reproducing equalizer 9, the obtained signal is restored to the original digital signal with an integral detector 10. Thus, by adopting a multi-layered medium, the magnetic component in the direction perpendicular to the medium surface can be offset and the deterioration of the recording signal due to the presence of the magnetic component in the perpendicular direction can be reduced. |
