An instrument for introducing a contrast medium into the womb in order to examine the fallopian tubes consists of a tube (1) with outlet holes (2) at one end for the outflow of the medium. An inflatable balloon (3) is fitted around the tube (1) in the region near to the outlet holes. The instrument has a connection (6) for inflating the balloon (3). A collar (4) prevents the main part of the instrument from entering the cervix. The instrument has a handle (5) and incorporates a syringe (7) for the injection of the contrast medium.
