A load indicator fitting for a patient's shoe contains an insert (1) for part of the sole, an elastic support (8) for the insert and a fixed stud (4). When the foot is unloaded or only lightly loaded the stud does not protrude above the upper edge of the support. When a defined load is reached the stud does protrude above the support. The elastic support is adjustable and consists of plate springs mounted one above the other or a helical spring. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use when patient cannot put a load on one leg. The partic. simple indicator is very cheap to make and fit.
