PURPOSE:To improve the characteristics of a quartz oscillator, by deciding the thickness of plate that should be avoided in case when the radius of curvature is altered in order to control the inharmonic mode. CONSTITUTION:The hetero-oscillation mode is a thickness flexion oscillation that has an even-order wave number and an odd-order wave number in the lengthwise and breadthwise directions, respectively. Thus the width slip oscillation, i.e. the main oscillation of the oscillator couples the thickness flexion oscillation within the working temperature range. Accordingly a designing is carried out by avoiding the following relation of measurements. That is, for a convex quartz oscillator having a cut direction of (y l)theta and within -51 deg.00'<theta<-49 deg.00', a length of (l), the maximum width of W, a thickness of plate of (t) and the radius of curvature of R each by the IRE declaration (1949), the plate thickness T(mm.) is set to be outside of a range of + or -0.02(mm.) to T1=W/[3.37+1.32(W/R)<1/2>], T2=W/ [3.32+5.86(W/R)<1/2>] and T3=W[3.20+1.16(W/R)<1/2>] in case when each relation of measurements is within the range of 7<l/W<20, 20<R/W<90 and 3<W/T<9, respectively. |
