PRODUCTIN OF POLYOLEFIN FOAM WITH OPEN CELLS

PURPOSE:To provide the title foam emitting no offensive odor. CONSTITUTION:The production of the objective foam is comprised of the following four consecutive processes: (1) an expandable, cross-linkable composition is obtained by incorporating a polyolefin with an inorganic decomposable foaming agent and cross-linking agent followed by kneading under heating; (2) this composition is heated under pressure and formed or expanded by a factor of 1-10; (3) the resulting product is heated at normal pressures in a mold to decompose both the cross-linking agent and foaming agent into a pore- aggregated foam with easily breakable membranes; and (4) this foam is penetrated with an injection needle followed by forcing air into the foam to effect mutual communication of the pores.
