The dishwasher has a water supply device, a rack for dishes and utensils. A drain is located in the base of the sink. A sink cover is provided and a spray aim is located above the base of the sink and is rotatable within the sink. The arm is mounted for rotation at the upper end of the shaft and a hollow interior releasably mounted in drain. A water outlet device is associated with the drain to direct to a pump. A water inlet device communicates with the interior of the shaft and the pump to return the water into the sink via the water spray arm so that the spray arm is rotated by the return of the water. The drain pipe has a constant internal diameter. The shaft carries a pair of separated seals, these have the same diameter as the drain internal diameter.
