The component disclosed consists of an electrically non-conducting solid, such as lime sandstone, gypsum or a ceramic-type preparation, in which particles of a material which particles of a material which is electrically conducting in the macroscopic state are distributed, the particles being at least partly linked with each other to form a network. The particle content of the component is between 5 and 30 % by volume. The component has an alternating-field electrical conductivity of from 0.1 to 20 s/m and the particle size lies within the range from 1 nm to 1 mu m. In the macroscopic state, the material of which the particles are made has an electrical conductivity of from 10<5> to 10<7> s/m.
