In the stator recesses is at least one conduit (11) for guiding coolant. The stator (1) is formed of stator plate which in the area of its expansion facing a rotor recess is provided with recesses for holding stator windings (8). The recesses for guiding the coolant conduit (11) have a rounded cross sectional surface with gaps in the region of an outer limit of the stator. The coolant conduit is formed from straight line segments joined to each other by changeover bends (33) outside the stator. For tensioning the stator plates (5), at least one draw bar (14) is provided. The draw bar acts on webs (30) in the area of bearing shields (3,4) and connects the bearing shields with the stator. All the draw bars fit in grooves stamped into the stator plates (5). ADVANTAGE - Compact construction giving effective cooling of motor.
