PURPOSE:To increase the crystallinity of mullite in porcelain and to enhance the strength of the porcelain. CONSTITUTION:A powdery mixture of 15-60wt.% mullite powder with 4-85wt.% glass powder based on oxides such as Al2O3, SiO2 and B2O3 and capable of depositing mullite crystals is molded and this molded body is fired at a low temp. of 800-1,050 deg.C in an oxidizing atmosphere. By this firing, mullite is deposited from the glass, the crystallinity of mullite in the resulting porcelain is increased to >=40vol.% and >=20kg/mm<2> bending strength is attained. |
