PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of optical, electronic components by passively adjusting a diode laser for an optical fiber by using a mechanical, positioning mechanism that is arranged precisely on a substrate. CONSTITUTION: Pedestals 12-14 that are machined to a predetermined position on a substrate 16 operate on the substrate 16 to determine the position of a laser array chip. A groove pitch is designed equal to the laser gap on the array, thus adjusting a Y-direction. A contact groove 18 that is extended onto the pedestal 14 is machined by a laser chip. The known position of a laser discharge region regarding a laser chip arrangement and the positions of the pedestals 12-14 enable the positioning of a groove for arranging a fiber in a proper angle orientation in X, Y, and Z directions, thus adjusting the center line of each laser active region for the center line of each fiber. The pattern of a metal film 15 is electrically connected to each element of laser arrangement, thus reducing the manufacturing cost of optical, electronic components. |
