Hot napkins are often used for wiping the face and hands in, for example, aeroplanes, trains, restaurants and similar places where access to the usual soap and water is limited. To simplify and reduce the cost of using hot napkins, according to the invention it is possible to heat 7 a moistened 5 napkin 4 packed in a transparent foil pouch 1, 2 so that the napkin 4, after being heated, can be removed from the pack and thus form a hot 6 napkin 4. This procedure permits the use of paper napkins since the heat 6 is released only when the pack has been opened, and by using inexpensive paper napkins it is possible to reduce the costs considerably and at the same time achieve easier and improved hygiene, since the napkin 4 is only removed once it has been heated and given to the user. <IMAGE>
