PURPOSE:To obtain an ophthalmic composition, containing 13,14-dihydro-15-keto- prostaglandins and a beta-adrenergic blocker as active ingredients, excellent in intraocular hypotensive action and reduced in side effects. CONSTITUTION:An ophthalmic composition is obtained by including (a) 13,14- dihydro-15-keto-prostaglandins or their salts and esters thereof and (b) a beta- adrenergic blocker as active ingredients. The ingredients are blended in the following amounts. 0.005-2wt.% ingredient (a) and 0.005-20wt.% ingredient (b) at a blending ratio of the ingredients (a) to (b) within the range of (1:0.5)-(1:200). The composition is prepared into the form of a solution, an emulsion, a suspension or a gel, an ophthalmic ointment, etc. The aforementioned composition is effective in treating intraocular hypertension and glaucoma. |
