PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent printing quality even on a rough paper by making a surface layer from colored thermoplastic resin, for a thermal transfer sheet for serial printer having a transfer ink layer and the surface layer formed on one face of a base material film. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer sheet is constituted of a transfer ink layer 2, a surface layer 3, and a heat resisting smooth layer 4 laid orderly on one face of a base material film 1. For the surface layer 3, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer having coloring melt index of 100-1000 is preferably used. The thickness of the surface layer 3 is to be, for example, about 0.3-2mum. For the base material film 1, for example, plastic films such as polyester, polypropylene, cellophane, polycarbonate and papers such as condenser paper, paraffin paper and nonwoven fabric are used. Further, for the transfer ink layer 2, a material consisting of coloring material and vehicle, to which various additives are added as occasion demands, is used. |
