ENCODING SYSTEM PROVIDED WITH SUBBAND CODER AND TRANSMITTER PROVIDED WITH ENCODING SYSTEM

摘要

PURPOSE: To obtain a bit need deciding means and method for deciding bit needs b1 -bM for corresponding signal blocks in sub-bands SB1 -SBM based on the output signal of a sub-band filter. CONSTITUTION: An encoding system is provided with a sub-band coder 2 for operating the sub-band coding of a wide band digital signal, and quantizing means 6 and 7 for quantizing sub-band signals SBm ,..., SBM for each block. This quantizing means is provided with a bit need deciding means 6 and a bit allocating means 7. The bit need deciding means 6 decides a bit need related with the number of bits indicating the sample of a signal block in the sub-band SBm . The bit allocating means 7 allocates the number of bits nm to the sub-band SBm based on a bit need bm and available bit amounts B (nm indicates the number of bits displaying the sample in the sub-band SBm ).
