PURPOSE:To realize the optical waveguide of slab shape, channel shape or the like which allows large refractive index variation and provides nonlinear optical effect as an organic polymer waveguide which has rich machinability and to offer its manufacture. CONSTITUTION:This optical waveguide is so manufactured that a part where superfine particles of a group II-VI element compound semiconductor are dispersed in an organic polymer has a higher refractive index than the periphery to become a waveguide part. A reactive material containing resin solution is printed in a desired state on a precursor organic polymer 1 which contains a group II metallic element compound as the raw material of the semiconductor superfine particles and the semiconductor particulates are dispersed at selective parts, i.e., in the waveguide shape. |
