PURPOSE:To produce ceramic hollow spheres with high yield with ceramic outer walls having diameter as small as a micron order and excellent heat resistance and pressure resistance. CONSTITUTION:Oil is mixed with water to prepare a W/O emulsion, to which metal alkoxide is added to dissolve the metal alkoxide in the oil component of the emulsion. Simultaneously in the interface between the water and oil, the metal alkoxide is hydrolyzed with water in the emulsion to form spherical shells comprising a metal compd. Then the W/O emulsion containing these shells is heated at temp. at which the metal compd. decomposes into a metal oxide, so that the oil and water are decomposed or vaporized to be removed and to obtain the hollow spheres of metal oxide. |
