摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain the metallic powder which has good dispersibility and has good Br/Bm orientation when the powder is made into a tape by incorporating Ba as a side component into the metallic powder essentially consisting of iron and allowing the Co contained in the metallic powder to exist more in the surface layer part than in the metallic powder. CONSTITUTION:The Co contained in the metallic powder of the magnetic recording medium having the magnetic layer contg. the metallic powder essentially consisting of the iron on a nonmagnetic base is made to exist more in the surface layer part than in the metallic powder. The metallic powder essentially consisting of the iron contains the Ba as the side component. The desired localization of the cobalt in the metal surface is attained in this way and the metallic powder having the good dispersibility is obtd. Good electromagnetic conversion characteristics are obtd.
