PURPOSE:To obtain a timing generator having calibration function capable of calibrating the delay time of the delay element used in a timing measuring apparatus by simple constitution. CONSTITUTION:In a timing measuring apparatus measuring the incoming timing of a signal to be measured, a closed loop containing delay elements DL0-DLn-1 to be calibrated, a latch circuit 2 and a calibrating variable delay element 12 is formed and subjected to loop oscillation. When the delay time of the calibrating variable delay element 12 is gradually increased from 0, the oscillation frequency of the closed loop changes stepwise at every cycle of the clock applied to the latch circuit 2. This change point changing stepwise is utilized to accuratly calibrate a delay time. |
