The apparatus performs reservation recording by selecting a specific channel with telephone dial tone even when the user is out of house. It is composed of a microphone (1) for picking up the ringing of telephone, an amplifier (2), a resonant amplifier (3) for resonating & amplifying the output of the amplifier (2) to the frequency of the ringing, a clamper (4), a switching section (5) for generating rectangular wave responding to the output of the clamper (4), a data generator (6) for generating specific channel selecting data by counting the numbers of the positive level signal from the switching section (5), and a microprocessor (7) for selecting a specific channel and generating recording start signal.
