PURPOSE:To stably produce a thin SMC sheet with a uniform coating wt. by coating the surface of a film with a thermosetting resin while controlling the coating wt. e.g. by roll coating and then scattering glass fibers on the surface of the resin. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a resin film (e.g. one of a polyester, polyolefin, or polyvinyl chloride resin) is coated with a thermosetting resin (e.g. a urea or polyamide resin) in a specified coating wt. e.g. by the comma direct method, comma reverse method, or jet coat method. Pref. the thickness and coating wt. of the resin are regulated to 100-300mum and 100-400g/m<2>, respectively. A glass fiber is cut into short pieces with, e.g. a roving cutter and scattered on the surface of the resin, which is then degassed and impregnated into the fiber using rollers alternately arranged above and below and two wire-mesh belts installed above and below, thus giving a thin SMC sheet. |
