The invention relates to an electric apparatus for domestic use, intended for hot-crushing bottles made of plastic so as to reduce their volume and render them absorbable by the conventional waste-disposal circuits. It consists of a body (1) having on the inside a volume (13) equipped in its circumference with resistance heaters (2) arranged in housings (8), a movable jaw (4) equipped with guide fingers (9) moving in grooves (18) and with a handle (6). When the handle (6) is actuated by the user, it acts on the guide fingers (9) of the movable jaw (4) which it lowers and which crushes the bottle (7), which has previously been heated by the resistance heaters (2). The bottle thus crushed has a volume which makes it possible to throw it into the conventional dustbin or waste disposer. This apparatus is intended for all households which consume liquids packaged in plastic bottles. <IMAGE>
