PURPOSE:To enhance the thermal efficiency of pot for manufacturing a glass fiber by raising melting sections from both ends of a nozzle section for spinning molten glass, directly connecting them, and heating the melting sections from the opening edges by supplying an electric current. CONSTITUTION:Pot 3 is provided with U-shaped structure formed by raising melting sections 10 from both ends of nozzle section 11. Glass starting material 2 charged from upper openings 9 of sections 10 is melted in sections 10, and molten glass 5 is spun from section 11 through orifices 6. During this time, pot 3 is heated through flanges 4 of the opening edges of sections 10 by supplying an electric current. The cross-sectional area of each flange 4 can be made smaller by the series connection of pot 3 to reduce the quantity of heat radiated. Accordingly, a relatively small power source device can be used. |
