A reclosable fastener for sealing packages of plastics material comprises a pair of profile strips 10, 12 each comprising a base with an upstanding male or female profile portion on one face of the base and a heat barrier strip 18 on the other face of the base to which an overlying plastics material sheet 14, 16 can be heat sealed while the two profile strips are in mating engagement. The barrier strips 18 prevent the flanges 13 of the profile strips from fusing together in the heat sealing process and by placing the strips 18 on the outside of the flanges 13 one can use them as profile guides.
