PURPOSE:To electrically constitute a timing extracting circuit in an optical reproducing repeater aiming fully optical operation. CONSTITUTION:An optical signal transmitted through an optical fiber 11 is amplified by an optical semiconductor amplifier 12 and branched into two signals, one of the branched signals is inputted to an optical latch 17, the other optical signal is converted into an electric signal, and a timing signal is extracted by an electric circuit and inputted to an optical latch as timing information for optical latch processing. In addition, an AGC function for the optical amplifier 12 by using an output signal from a full wave rectifier circuit 20 in a timing extracting circuit and a non-input signal monitoring function using the extracted timing signal are constituted. |
