PURPOSE:To adequately feed ink in the rotating axial direction of a plate cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The distribution of area ratios of a pattern 34 is converted to a function f(x) regarding positions in the rotating axial direction of a plate cylinder, and a patterned region 32 on a printing object 31 is divided into small regions 24j (j=0,...n-1) in the rotating axial direction to set specified patterned areas. Boundary positions xj, and xx+1 of each small region 24j are set so that the definite integral value of the function f(x) with respect to the small region 24j becomes equal to the specified patterned area in the small region 24j. The special feature of this method is that a specified amount of ink is supplied to ink feed position corresponding to each small region 24j defined by the boundary positions xj and xx+1. An operator is allowed to set an ink feed amount that is good enough to follow up the rate of change in patterned area ratios without the need of a step to set an optimum value corresponding to the pattern on the printing object. |
