PURPOSE:To efficiently produce the subject butyric acid ester from propylene. CONSTITUTION:In production of a butyric acid ester by a reaction between propylene and carbon monoxide in the presence of a palladium catalyst, an organic phosphine, a cocatalyst and an alcohol, a compound (e.g. 2- hydroxypyridine, pyrazole, 1,2,4-triazole, 2-aminophenol or 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid) having a proton-donative part and a proton-accepting part at mutually adjacent positions in the molecule is used as the cocatalyst. |
