PURPOSE:To make the width of copying paper and the width of latent images automatically the same by transmitting the width of the copying paper directly detected from copying paper straightly to a latent image eraser by using an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:This is an electrophotographic copier which forms latent images by exposing images to a photoreceptor applied with surface charge. It has the 1st charger 18 which applies charge arbitrary polarity to a photoreceptor 11, an optical fiber 20 which is provided adjacently to the 1st charger 18, of which the photodetecting end is provided above the supplying and conveying part for copying paper, and which receives the reflected light by a lamp 31 illuminating the copying paper and transmits the same to one end, and the 2nd charger 22 which is provided adjacently to this optical fiber 20, and charges the charge of the polarity opposite from that of the 1st charger 18. In this way, the surface charge of the photoreceptor 11 is made into the same width as that of the copying paper. |
