A lifting device 1 for displacing a load 8 on a plane, exchanging the plane of displacement and continuing the displacement on another plane. The lifting device 1 comprises a supporting frame 2, a lifting fork 3 supported by the frame and provided with an electric drive, transport wheels 7' and a wheel fork 5'. The electric drive of the lifting fork 3 has been arranged in a machine space 4 located between the supporting frame 2 and the load 8 on the lifting fork 3. Owing to its positioning, the machine space 4 serves as counterweight to the supporting frame 2 and the wheels 7',5' in the plane displacement stage. <IMAGE>
