The method for roof management during the start-up of the longwall with caving in a strongly inclined and steep bed, especially a thin and medium-thick seams, whose roofs are categorized as hardly workable, which longwall is equipped with mechanized lining, especially protective lining, consisting in that alongside advancement of the working head beyond the mechanized lining on the longwall gangway side, a filler with compressibility of optimally 40-60% is continually fed in quantities each time equal to the volume of worked-out cavity.
