The dispenser cathode is mfd. by inserting a barium- calcium-aluminate- impregnated porous tungsten into the U type cup, laser- or resistance-welding the cup to the sleeve having a heater to form the cathode body, and fixing the cathode body to the I type metal body adhered with a heat-shielding film composed of molybdenum, tantalum or its alloy. The cathode is used in the braun tube, image pickup tube or electron tube.
