PURPOSE:To enhance the adhesive property of a recording layer with a substrate and to improve durability by providing a skin layer having <=140 deg.C thermal softening point on the front layer part on the recording layer side of the substrate. CONSTITUTION:The skin layer having <=140 deg.C thermal softening point is formed by injection molding on the recording layer side surface layer of the substrate consisting of cyclic polyolefin or polycarbonate. The recording layer is formed by a vapor phase film forming method, such as sputtering or vapor deposition method, on this skin layer. The adhesiveness between the substrate and the recording layer is enhanced by the presence of this skin layer and the durability of the optical recording medium is exceedingly improved. The possible reason thereof lies in that the film forming components infiltrate the soft skin layer at the time of forming the recording layer. Such effect is critically improved by regulating the softening point of the skin layer to <=140oC. |
