The signal processing circuit has the incoming signal fed along a first signal path (3) in which the signal spectrum remains unaltered, when the detected signal level is above a threshold value and along a second signal path (4) containing a low-pass filter, when the signal level is below this threshold value. The switching of the input signal between the 2 alternate signal paths (3,4) is effected to ensure that no spectral components which are not at least 40 dB below the signal level are generated. Pref. the switching between the 2 signal paths (3,4) is effected via a diode switching device (2). ADVANTAGE - Improved optical image quality.
