<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the quantity of a frame (field) memory required for coding processing and to reduce the cost of the coder for inter-frame and inter-field prediction. CONSTITUTION:Frame (field) memories 11-14 for prediction timewise in the opposite direction are used in common independently for the prediction in the prediction coding having an independent frame (field) periodically. Switches SW1-SW5 are selected in the order of frames and prediction is implemented from an original signal and the result is coded with a prescribed delay time for both the independent and the prediction mode. Moreover, fields of a same prediction type are coded altogether. Thus, the quantity of the frame (field) memories 11-14 is reduced.</p> |
