In apparatus comprising a pack of plates 1 wherein between each adjacent pair of plates is formed a fluid channel (4, Fig. 1), bounded by an elastic sealing member 3 extending between said pair of plates, means for releasably securing the sealing member 3 to one of the plates of each adjacent pair, comprises fastening members 5 extending from the plate or from the sealing member and being received with an interference fit in a corresponding hole in the sealing member or the plate respectively. The invention may be used in filters and heat exchangers and is especially well suited for use in sectional plate-type heat exchangers.
