PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber having excellent durability and resistant to yellowing without deteriorating the original feeling and characteristics of the fiber by applying a specific amount of a treating agent composed mainly of a specific ammonium salt and a melamine resin to a synthetic fiber and heat-treating the fiber. CONSTITUTION:A treating agent containing an N-polyoxyalkylene-N,N,N- trialkylammonium salt of formula I (R1 is 8-22C alkyl or alkenyl; R2 and R3 are 1-5C alkyl; R is 2-4C alkylene; m is 2-5; X is counter anion; m is valence of the counter anion) is applied to a synthetic fiber such as polyester fiber in an amount to satisfy the formula II and formula III at the same time (WA and WB are applied amounts of the ammonium salt and melamine resin, respectively) and the coating film is fixed by heating the fiber to obtain the objective fungicidal deodorant fiber having excellent weather resistance and resistant to yellowing. |
