PURPOSE:To accelerate the communication of stereoscopic images due to parallax merging by compressing the image information of one eye by an information compressing means with the image information of the other eye as a reference. CONSTITUTION:For each image as the communication unit of both-eye image information, a moving vector compensation and compression processing is executed as the information compression of the both-eye image information on a time base. At such a time, since the horizontal correlation of the image information between both eyes is high degree, with the image information of one eye as the reference, the image information of the other eye is compressed by the information compressing means. For example, the operator of a telephone set mapped by a time-division twin-lens camera 10 is composed of a mathematical model 31 of the head and a mathematical model 32 of the breast. Thus, at the communication of the stereoscopic image due to parallax merging, a sub moving image rate equal to a plane image TV telephone set can be obtained and high-speed stereoscopic pictorial communication is enabled. |
