PURPOSE: To disclose a device which is constituted of as catheter 12 and a spectrophotometer 56 and use near infrared rays for discriminating normal tissues and trouble tissues and method therefor. CONSTITUTION: Near infrared rays pass object tissue by a certain wavelength and reflected light is analyzed for determining absorption amount, more desirably, the secondary differentiation. A relation for determining the following correlation equation for determining a prediced value y from the spectral discrimination of absorption amount of known trouble tissues (90, 92) and known normal tissues (80, 82) is established. In y=C0 +C1 A(g1 )+C2 A(g2 ), A (g1 ) and A (g2 ) are two secondary differential values of absorption amount of selected wavelengths. For cholesterol ester in blood and blood platelet, g1 and g2 are preferably 1714.5 and 1678.5 nanometer, respectively. By imparting coefficients C0 , C1 and C2 , the value of y of -0.8 or below shows trouble tissues to be treated. An excision laser treatment is described as a mode of treatments. |
